We begin with a Star Wars set, the 75436 The Mandalorian and Grogu's speeder bike. For $9.99, it includes 58 pieces to build the speeder seen in several episodes of the The Mandalorian series. While the vehicle is convincing despite the low piece count, I mainly chose this set for the minifigures: the Mandalorian Din Djarin and Grogu, the two main characters of the series and the movie coming out in 2026. These are common minifigures that all collectors already have, but if that is not your case, this set is the best way to get them for a dirt-cheap price. It is also well suited as a small gift for a young Star Wars fan.

60485 The hot rod

LEGO City - 81 pieces - 1 minifigure - $9.99

For the next set, we head to the LEGO City range with the 60485 Hot Rod. Still priced at $9.99, it includes a vehicle and its driver, for a total of 81 pieces. Besides the price-per-piece ratio, which starts to become interesting, I chose this set for the originality of the car: a green and purple hot rod with an exposed engine and a sloping roof. It stands out from the usual LEGO City cars, which all tend to look alike.

71851 Battle Pack: Kai's dragon mech

LEGO Ninjago - 85 pieces - 3 minifigures - $9.99

This time we move to the Ninjago range with the 71851 Battle Pack: Kai's dragon mech. This set packs in many qualities, from its very competitive price-per-piece ratio to its three minifigures. Even the mech stands out with its successful design featuring dragon wings. Although the set is primarily aimed at young children, the very nice earth monster minifigure could even tempt collectors...

The best sets under $30

40725 Cherry blossoms

LEGO Creator - 438 pieces - $14.99

For the first set in the $10-30 range, I chose 40725 Cherry blossoms from the Creator range for its price-per-piece ratio: 438 pieces for $14.99 is more than excellent. Of course, at that price these are small pieces, but they remain interesting: with all its leaves and flowers, you will get a useful plant inventory for a MOC, giving the set a second life if you grow tired of the original build.

76460 Hogwarts Castle: The Sorting Hat ceremony

LEGO Harry Potter - 124 pieces - 4 minifigures - $14.99

Back to playsets with the 76460 Hogwarts Castle: The Sorting Hat Ceremony, from the Harry Potter range. If I recommend this set, it is because of its very good value for money. For just $14.99, the set contains 124 pieces including 4 minifigures (which is rare these days), plus a cat Patronus. On top of that, the builds are not lacking either, with a spinning wheel to randomly assign Hogwarts houses for added play value, as well as a table with food and a cabinet with the house point hourglasses. Enough to nicely decorate a Hogwarts diorama for a ridiculously low price...

60498 The Tractor

LEGO City - 204 pieces - 1 minifigure - $19.99

For the next set, I recommend the 60498 The Tractor from the LEGO City theme. For $19.99, the set lets you build a very convincing tractor in both its details and its color scheme, using 204 pieces, which makes for a very good price-per-piece ratio for this kind of set.

60488 The French Fries Food Truck

LEGO City - 216 pieces - 2 minifigures - $19.99

For the next set, we stay in the LEGO City range with the 60488 The French Fries Food Truck. Following the success of the donut and burger food trucks from previous years, LEGO now offers us a French fries stand mounted on a truck. The formula behind the success of the previous models remains the same: original design and a good price-per-piece ratio. If you already have the previous ones, it would be a shame to skip this one.

75449 Siege of Mandalore Battle Pack

LEGO Star Wars - 116 pieces - 4 minifigures - $22.99

This time we head into the LEGO Star Wars range with a set collectors had been waiting for: the 75449 Siege of Mandalore Battle Pack. For $22.99, this set contains four minifigures, including two 332nd Company clones, but above all two Mandalorian Super Commandos in Dark Maul-colored armor, taken from the final episodes of the The Clone Wars series. The last version of these minifigures dates back to 2013, so it is a pleasure to finally see them again in a much improved version. In addition to the minifigures, the set includes two small builds: a barricade and a rather successful speeder.

77256 Back to the Future Time Machine

LEGO Speed Champions - 357 pieces - 2 minifigures - $27.99

It is the best-seller of early 2026: set 77256 Back to the Future Time Machine. While the famous DeLorean had already received a large-scale version in the Creator range, it makes a successful return to the Speed Champions range in 2026. And the set combines many strengths: a competitive price-per-piece ratio, two minifigures, and the possibility of building two versions of the car. For $27.99, it would be a shame not to get it.

76332 The Batman Batmobile

LEGO DC Comics - 330 pieces - 1 minifigure - $29.99

For the next set, I recommend another car: the 76332 Batmobile from the film The Batman. In 2026, LEGO released a series of Batmobiles in the DC Comics range in a format similar to Speed Champions (8 studs wide). This one stands out with its advantageous price-per-piece ratio at $29.99 for 330 pieces, and its successful design. If you are a Batman fan, I can only recommend it.

76461 The Cornish Pixie

LEGO Harry Potter - 320 pieces - $29.99

Back again to the Harry Potter range with a very interesting set, 76461 The Cornish Pixie. For $29.99, its 320 pieces make it possible to build a nice creature from the Harry Potter universe. While the set is successful, its main appeal comes from its design, which recalls the "Collector's Edition" models, with the pixie perched on a book alongside a wand and an inkwell. It will therefore be ideal for complementing a set such as the 76391 Hogwarts Icons - Collectors' Edition.

The best sets under $50

75437 Cobb Vanth's Speeder

LEGO Star Wars - 207 pieces - 2 minifigures - $34.99

For this first set in the $30–50 range, we head to Star Wars with the 75437 Cobb Vanth's Speeder, a model taken from the The Mandalorian series. While, as is often the case with this type of set, the price-per-piece ratio is not great, the set stands out thanks to its two minifigures, which will delight collectors: Cobb Vanth, making his first appearance in LEGO form, and Cad Bane, returning in a new improved version. Both minifigures are of course exclusive and feature printed arms, a luxury for a set at this price point. If you collect LEGO Star Wars minifigures, this set is impossible to pass up.

60495 The Recycling Truck

LEGO City - 434 pieces - 2 minifigures - $39.99

For the next set, I chose 60495 The Recycling Truck from LEGO City. For $39.99, it offers a good price-per-piece ratio with 434 pieces including two minifigures. But the reason I chose it is its trash collection functionality (with two bins included): a tilting arm allows them to be picked up from the front of the truck and emptied into it, and the truck itself features two compartments for sorting recyclables. A nice improvement over the previous version.

71854 Cole's Mech and Zane's Dragon Mission

LEGO Ninjago - 364 pieces - 3 minifigures - $34.99

For the next set, I chose the 71854 Cole's Mech and Zane's Dragon Mission, a Ninjago set packed with strengths. First, its price-per-piece ratio, with 364 pieces for just $34.99, which is good for this kind of set. Then its playability, with the mech featuring articulated limbs and three different weapons. And finally its minifigures: three included characters, including Dragon Zane and an acid serpent monster, a type of minifigure that is fairly rare in the range and appreciated by fans. If you are a Ninjago collector or simply a fan of beautiful LEGO minifigures, this set is ideal for treating yourself if you do not want to go for the more expensive sets in the range.

71866 15th Anniversary: Ninja Character Collection

LEGO Ninjago - 447 pieces - 8 minifigures - $44.99

Back to the Ninjago range with the next set, the 71866 15th Anniversary: Ninja Character Collection. As its name suggests, this set was released to celebrate 15 years of the Ninjago theme, and LEGO did not do things halfway: a very good price-per-piece ratio with 447 pieces for $44.99, an even more appealing price considering the presence of eight minifigures in the set. This set is therefore ideal for getting all the main characters from the series plus one new addition: Kai, Zane, Cole, Jay, Lloyd, Wu, Samurai X, as well as the Master of Lightning. While the minifigures are the main attraction of the set, the build is also very interesting, with a nice monastery gate diorama for displaying the minifigures.

The best sets under $70

72151 Eevee

LEGO Pokémon - 587 pieces - $59.99

For the first set in the $50–70 range, I chose 72151 Eevee from the Pokémon theme. With its 587 pieces for a reasonable price of $59.99, this set is, in my opinion, the best way to get into the Pokémon theme, which enters the LEGO catalog in 2026 for the 30th anniversary of the license: much more successful than Pikachu and far less expensive and bulky than the Kanto starters trio.

42222 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Hypercar

LEGO Technic - 771 pieces - $64.99

Moving on to the LEGO Technic range with the next set, the 42222 Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Hypercar. This set is part of the entry-level sports car series, an alternative to the more expensive and feature-rich models. For $64.99, the set's 771 pieces allow you to assemble a Bugatti whose iconic design is reproduced quite well, and which includes the basic features expected from this type of set: working steering, opening doors and hood, and an engine block representation with pistons.

60505 Plane, Support Truck and Modular Hovercraft

LEGO City - 990 pieces - 3 minifigures - $69.99

For the next set in the selection, I chose the 60505 Plane, Support Truck and Modular Hovercraft from the LEGO City range for one simple reason: its price. At $69.99 for 990 pieces, it is a great deal. With three different vehicles, the ability to mix the modules that make them up, and a generous inventory that allows you to build something else, this set is particularly interesting for children looking for a toy with many possibilities.

11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron's Helmet

LEGO Icons - 538 pieces - 1 minifigure - $69.99

With the next set, we change category with a set aimed at adult collectors, the 11373 The Lord of the Rings: Sauron's Helmet, from the LEGO Icons theme. After the success of set 10316 Rivendell, which marked the return of The Lord of the Rings range in 2023, LEGO is diversifying its catalog with a new type of set: after enjoying some success in the Star Wars range, helmets now make a very successful appearance in Middle-earth with Sauron's helmet. The model is particularly successful and instantly recognizable, and even offers a significant improvement over the Star Wars helmets: the character minifigure is finally included. This is very good news for collectors, who will be able to get a Sauron minifigure identical to the one from set 10333 The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr, sold for $459.99, at a much lower cost. Between the quality of the helmet and the inclusion of the minifigure, this set is a must-have for Tolkien fans, even if its initial price is a bit high considering the number of pieces.

The best sets under $100

21064 Paris, City of Love

LEGO Architecture - 958 pieces - $79.99

For the next set, I chose the 21064 Paris, City of Love, from the Architecture range. This set introduces a new concept, halfway between the skylines featuring a city's iconic buildings, already seen in this theme, and the Creator postcards with their background landscapes. So here we get a complete relief scene with characteristic buildings from the city, and Paris is the first to launch this new type of set. Against a starry night background, Notre-Dame, the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, and of course the Eiffel Tower are all present. It is therefore a very interesting set for fans of LEGO decorative objects, standing out for its carefully crafted atmosphere and original building techniques.

75441 Venator-class Assault Cruiser

LEGO Star Wars - 643 pieces - $79.99

It would be difficult to make a selection of the best sets without mentioning the 75441 Venator-class Assault Cruiser from LEGO Star Wars. Since the launch of the Starship Collection, the Venator was probably the most anticipated ship, being the fans' favorite. It finally made its appearance in the Star Wars range in early 2026. It is an opportunity for those who do not own the massive UCS version to get this ship in a much more practical and affordable format. While the $79.99 price may seem high for the number of pieces, the quality of the set makes up for it.

11375 Ferrari F2004 and Michael Schumacher

LEGO Icons - 735 pieces - 1 minifigure - $89.99

Back to the Icons theme with a new large-scale F1 car. After Ayrton Senna and Nigel Mansell, it’s now Michael Schumacher’s turn to get his Ferrari F2004 in the Icons range. The formula that made the previous two sets successful remains unchanged: a highly detailed car displayed on an angled stand and accompanied by a driver minifigure. While the $89.99 price may seem a bit high, it includes around forty additional pieces.

71858 15th Anniversary - The Four Weapons Forge

LEGO Ninjago - 1259 pieces - 6 minifigures - $99.99

The 15th anniversary of Ninjago continues to spoil us with the set 71858 The Four Weapons Forge. In addition to its excellent value for money (1259 pieces for $99.99), it allows you to build a very nice representation of the very first location seen in the first episode of the series. Beyond the impeccable finish of the model, the set includes several references to the series that will delight longtime fans, as well as six minifigures. With all these qualities, this set is a must-have for Ninjago fans.

The best sets under $150

71859 The Life Dragon

LEGO Ninjago - 1050 pieces - 8 minifigures - $109.99

Staying within the Ninjago theme with the set 71859 The Life Dragon. If I previously recommended a smaller Ninjago set for the quality of its minifigures and its playability, the 71859 The Life Dragon offers the same strengths but on a more ambitious scale. Its eight minifigures provide a fairly comprehensive selection of what this new wave of Dragon Rising sets has to offer, including dragon-form ninjas, a serpent-bodied monster, and one with horns, among others. If you enjoy great minifigures, you won’t be disappointed with this set. The build is also impressive, featuring a rather inspired plant-based dragon and a mech to enhance playability. At $109.99 for 1050 pieces, the value for money is solid.

31218 Cherry Blossoms

LEGO Art - 1892 pieces - $139.99

For the next set in this price category, we head to the LEGO Art theme with 31218 Cherry Blossoms, which depicts a Japanese landscape in the form of a relief artwork. In addition to its good value for money with 1892 pieces for $139.99, I recommend this set for its very successful aesthetics and its carefully crafted atmosphere, notably thanks to the color gradients and the more advanced building techniques compared to earlier sets in the range.

76344 Iron Man Mark 3 Collector’s Edition

LEGO Marvel - 1297 pieces - 1 minifigure - $129.99

We continue the selection with a set that will delight Marvel fans: the 76344 Iron Man Mark 3 Collector’s Edition. With its 1297 pieces, it allows you to build a large Iron Man figure standing 38 cm tall, featuring a high level of detail and several features. The articulated limbs let you pose the character as you wish. Collectors will also be pleased to find an exclusive Iron Man minifigure with printed arms, something quite rare in this theme. With all these qualities, the $129.99 price tag is reasonable.

71515 The Tiger Shark Tank

LEGO DREAMZzz - 1548 pieces - 8 minifigures - $139.99

After sets aimed at adults, I chose a more play-oriented set: the 71515 The Tiger Shark Tank from LEGO DREAMZzz. Part of the 2026 wave of LEGO’s in-house theme, this set lets you build, as the name suggests, a shark-shaped tank with a very creative design, featuring bright colors and detailed elements. In terms of features, the shark has an articulated mouth and tail, tracks, and two detachable pods equipped with blasters. And of course, the set also includes an alternate build: a shark-shaped boat. The minifigures are not to be overlooked either, with eight characters included. Finally, the set offers a fairly competitive price at $139.99 for 1548 pieces.

75447 The Razor Crest

LEGO Star Wars - 930 pieces - 5 minifigures - $149.99

For the next set, we return to the Star Wars range with the 75447 The Razor Crest. This is the third edition of the ship (excluding Microfighters and polybags), making its comeback alongside the theatrical release of The Mandalorian and Grogu. The set is therefore based on the appearance of the Razor Crest in the film, featuring its yellow cockpit (as it is a different ship, the original having been destroyed in the series), and comes with minifigures from the movie. If I chose this set, it’s not for its price per piece, which is objectively quite high at $149.99 for only 930 pieces, but for its much improved design compared to the first version despite the slightly reduced size of the ship: the yellow color works very well, and the finish is very clean. As for the minifigures, the set stands out with the return of Zeb Orrelios, making it a must-have for collectors, as the previous version of the character from Rebels is highly sought after.

The best sets under $200

21367 Tintin Rocket

LEGO Ideas - 1283 pieces - 6 minifigures - $159.99

For the first set in the $150–200 range, I chose the 21367 Tintin Rocket from the LEGO Ideas line. This 1283-piece set lets you build the iconic red and white rocket from the comics Tintin: Destination Moon and Explorers on the Moon, and it comes with six minifigures in orange astronaut suits. I selected it for this list because of the quality of the building techniques used to recreate the shape of the rocket, with its rounded fuselage and three boosters. The set promises a great building experience and a beautiful display piece with its impeccable finish and 49 cm height. With all these qualities, the slightly high price of $159.99 can be forgiven.

76466 Hogwarts School – Collector’s Edition

LEGO Harry Potter - 1571 pieces - 3 minifigures - $169.99

In 2021, I particularly enjoyed the set Hogwarts Icons with its large Hedwig statue perched on a stack of objects from the Harry Potter films. In 2026, LEGO expands its Collector’s Edition series with a new set in a similar style: the 76466 Hogwarts School – Collector’s Edition. With a smaller size and a more affordable price than its predecessor (1571 pieces, $169.99), this set lets you build a new version of the owl perched on a stack of books and a suitcase, accompanied by the Philosopher’s Stone and several other accessories. The whole display sits on a chessboard featuring the white queen and the black knight at minifigure scale, including the three main characters. The set also includes several features, such as a hidden movie scene inside the suitcase, Hedwig’s articulated head, and the moving queen piece. With its strong visual appeal and fair price, I can only recommend it.

The best sets over $200

11371 The Shopping Street

LEGO Icons - 3456 pieces - 7 minifigures - $249.99

For the first set in the over $200 category, I selected the 11371 The Shopping Street. This set from the LEGO Icons range is the 2026 edition of the famous modular buildings series, highly appreciated by LEGO fans. After an excellent 2025 set, the 2026 model brings some novelty with two buildings forming a street with a front plaza thanks to their diagonal facades, which give a more natural look compared to classic models following the stud grid. Inside, you’ll find a music shop, a furniture store, and an apartment, along with the level of detail typical of Modulars. Some may criticize the smaller interior spaces due to the space allocated to the street, or its similarity to other sets in the range such as the Boutique Hotel and the Assembly Square, but the set remains successful and enjoyable to build, while offering a good price-per-piece ratio at $249.99 for 3456 pieces.
