A review of one of the new LEGO Star Wars 2026 releases

For this new review, we’re taking a look at set 75437 Cobb Vanth’s speeder. Released in January 2026, this 207-piece set allows you to build a speeder seen in an episode of the series The Mandalorian, but more importantly, it includes two exclusive minifigures.

Set data: a high price per piece

To compare the data of set 75437 Cobb Vanth’s speeder, I selected several sets released since 2020 in the same price range, featuring speeders or other small vehicles. By comparing the price per piece and per minifigure, it becomes clear that set 75437 Cobb Vanth’s speeder is particularly expensive for what it offers: €0.145 per piece (the highest in the selection) and €14.99 per minifigure (the second highest). Unfortunately, this has become the new norm at LEGO since 2025: prices in the Star Wars range have significantly increased, resulting in reduced content to maintain similar price points, as seen with the Advent calendar in a previous review. Like it, set 75437 Cobb Vanth’s speeder is affected by shrinkflation, with a noticeably reduced piece count—only 207 pieces for €29.99, compared to 276 pieces for set 75299 Trouble on Tatooine released in 2021, based on the same episode and sold at the same price.

Even though the price per piece is typically higher for small sets than the €0.10 often considered an acceptable standard, set 75437 does not shine in terms of value for money on paper. But does the set justify this price increase once in hand? That’s what we’ll find out in this review.

Set Lego price Year Pieces Minifigs Price/ Piece Price/ Minifig
75280 501st Legion Clone Troopers 29.99 $ 2020 285 6 0.105 $ 4.998 $

The build

Inside the box, you’ll find the pieces split into three bags and the instruction manual. There are no stickers in this set, which is a plus. Given the number of pieces, the build is simple and quick: the first bag builds the rider’s seat, the second the engine structure, and the third adds the finishing touches. Aside from heavy use of side-stud techniques (SNOT building), the set does not feature particularly advanced or original building techniques, which is common for sets of this size.

The review of Cobb Vanth’s speeder

The speeder in the series

The vehicle in the set is the speeder used by Cobb Vanth, the marshal of Mos Pelgo on Tatooine. It appears in the first episode of season 2 of The Mandalorian, and it stood out due to its similarity to Anakin’s podracer from The Phantom Menace. Indeed, Vanth’s speeder is built from an engine identical to the two used in the podracer, with a saddle attached to the side for riding. It therefore shares the same key features: its tubular shape and two large yellow blades at the front (compared to three on Anakin’s pod).

The speeder in set 75437: quite successful despite the usual flaws

Let’s address the main flaw of the set right away: its size. As is often the case with this type of vehicle, LEGO prioritizes sturdiness and playability over accurate minifigure scale. Cobb Vanth’s speeder is no exception—it is oversized compared to the minifigures, which is particularly noticeable at the seat. In the series, it’s just a simple saddle, but in the set, this section is quite bulky and forms an awkward block that makes the minifigure sit unusually high. This choice is due to the building technique: the seat and engine are connected via a Technic axle, requiring a 1x2 brick with an axle hole, which unnecessarily raises the whole structure. I would have preferred a simpler assembly using a plate to reduce the cockpit height.

Aside from this issue, I have to admit that the rest of the speeder is quite successful. Its shape is faithful to the original model: it’s instantly recognizable with its yellow blades, tubular engine, and side-mounted saddle. The level of detail is also impressive, with a large amount of greebling throughout: carefully shaped curves, layered parts to vary textures, and decorative elements such as a flintlock pistol, an ice skate, and candles used to represent mechanical details…

In terms of playability, the speeder doesn’t have any specific features, but it does include a fairly large storage compartment in the center of the engine, accessible by removing the top yellow panel. The space inside can hold all the included accessories: the milk carton (printed piece), the fruit, and Vanth’s hairpiece at the same time! You can even store the helmet instead of the hair—it fits as well. This storage compartment is a very welcome addition and will help you avoid losing the extra hairpiece, which often happens with sets that include additional accessories. The seat, of course, allows the rider to sit without removing the jetpack, and while the controls cannot be held by the minifigure, they are positioned at the right height and remain faithful to their appearance in the series.

The minifigures: the big strength of the set

Cobb Vanth, the marshal (sw1489)

The first of the two minifigures is Cobb Vanth, the owner of the speeder and marshal of Mos Pelgo. This is the first time this character appears in LEGO form, and the designer did not hold back. At the start of season 2 of The Mandalorian, Vanth wears Boba Fett’s armor, and the minifigure accurately reflects this. All the elements of Boba Fett’s armor are present in the printing for consistency, including arm printing, now standard on recent versions of the bounty hunter. However, the designer didn’t simply reuse the same armor print: it has been modified to reflect the rest of Cobb Vanth’s outfit, such as the red tunic underneath, the brown pants with an extra belt, and of course the green paint worn away by the Sarlacc’s acid.

The helmet features the same treatment, with worn paint revealing metallic touches. It includes the new version of the range finder, introduced in 2025 on Jango Fett and the 327th clones. All parts of the minifigure are exclusive to this set, including the head with dual expressions, and even the extra hairpiece provided alongside the helmet. This hairpiece is well chosen and closely matches the character’s hairstyle.

In terms of accessories, Cobb Vanth is equipped with the same jetpack piece used for Boba Fett, and his blaster is represented by a revolver, a relatively rare piece (available in only 11 sets) that will remind fans of the LEGO Western sets from the 1990s. It also references his cowboy-style duel with Cad Bane, the second minifigure in the set.

Cad Bane, the bounty hunter (sw1490)

The second minifigure in the set is Cad Bane, the legendary bounty hunter who appeared in the animated series The Clone Wars, and later in live action in The Book of Boba Fett, notably during a duel with Cobb Vanth. While Cad Bane has already appeared in three previous LEGO versions in 2010 (sw0285), 2013 (sw0497), and 2022 (sw1219), this version is exclusive to this set. Moreover, it is the only one based on his live-action appearance in The Book of Boba Fett. This results in some visual differences, such as a paler blue skin tone and a higher level of detail.

The torso printing is highly detailed and accurately represents the brown coat he wears in the series, including all outfit details: the long coat extending onto the legs, the cartridge belt, and the suit with pockets. Like Cobb Vanth, the minifigure also features arm printing to depict the gear worn on his wrists, as well as the folds of his sleeves.

In terms of equipment, Bane includes his iconic hat and breathing apparatus, pieces that previously appeared only in the earlier version of the character, along with two blasters using the standard piece. It’s also interesting to note that this set includes three different pistol elements: classic Star Wars blasters for Bane, a Western-style revolver for Vanth, and a flintlock pistol used as decoration on the speeder.

Just like Vanth, this Cad Bane minifigure is a success, with an impressive level of detail, particularly the arm printing, which sets it apart from previous versions and makes it the best LEGO Cad Bane minifigure to date.

My opinion on set 75437 Cobb Vanth’s speeder

Overall, I’m very satisfied with this set. Although the recurring issue (albeit justified by the designer’s constraints) of oversized speeders still bothers me, I must admit that the model is successful, with a very good level of detail, a recognizable design, and useful storage space. However, it’s the minifigures that truly make this set stand out: a brand-new Cobb Vanth and an exclusive Cad Bane in his best version, both featuring cutting-edge detail with arm printing. For collectors, this set is a must-have. Its strengths almost make you forget the high price relative to the piece count, and I strongly recommend purchasing it—especially since it can easily be found at 20–30% off at the time of writing. With such a discount, which offsets the price increase compared to older sets, the value for money becomes truly appealing.
